This is a common problem in Freelanders. Things to check:
1. Is the rear cubby hole damp? If so, drill a hole in the cubby hole, remove and refit, clean and silicone-grease the rear seal. If this doesn't improve it, cut a section out just above the corners.
2. Is the passenger side footwell damp? If so, this is probably the heater matrix.
Fit a dehumidifier below the front seats but make sure it doesn't turn over and leak everywhere, like mine does! Clean the inside of the windscreen and use rain-x.
I've found a massive improvement by doing some of these small things.
