Hi Lads,

Just did a compression test on my RRC planning on doing a full rebuild but need to know the original compression data from Landrover. Been searching the net high and low but not found anything, anyone got that data?

Dont try and emulate book figures on diy equipment. Just look for a 10% difference in figures over the cylinders. If one or more are out then you have a problem, heads off to inspect. If one is out, squirt light oil in cyl and try again. A better figure suggests rings, no change means you could have valve issue, hg or maybe a fecked piston.

im not too worried about the readings im gteting (going to do an entire engine rebuild) just want to see what information im getting. from the pic below im guessing the head gasket might be going/gone. but just want to see how good the rest is.

LR readings will depend upon CR of engine..

175 is typical of a good un..but varying cr on cylinders could just be down to cam too

Hard to say isnt it! Could be bad valve here bad ring there or cam as zen says. Petrol engine are going to be struggling to keep wear in check inside combustion chamber after 150k and a rebuild is going to sort all those issues out. 110 to 145 says rebuild due to something lowering comp on that 110 cyl.

true, its got 130K on the clock, im just trying to get as much information as i can before i start to pull the engine apart. anyone any other tips before i pull it out?

yes..clean it first..rebuild it in warm enviroment..front room in front of telly prefered..

use good parts and plenty of oil..replace cam, lifters and timing chain..set up cam preload.

paint it so looks good..
