Another question from the husband...it would appear that the battery is under the passenger seat, yes you all say, but...our passenger seat is bolted down, is this a problem?
They are replacement seats look like bucket seats,there is a seat in the middle,nt think to check under that one.Seat base should lift out to access.

My grandfather had that carpet in his lounge in the 70's..
welding it is then!!!In that case, you may have to unbolt them. Standard seats the bases just clip in, and remove by lifting. Battery is accessed under passenger seat, handbrake cable and reverse switch under the centre.
Normal or better than usual on 90 that age.
You can take it apart and bodge it up with welds or plates and rivets, probably keep it going for years.
Or if you want to spend the money you can get another.
