Hello everyone,

so I have been driving disco 1 300tdi and everything was great untill this morning when I started to turn on the key. Dash lit up, radio started working, so I waited a few secs and proceeded to turn on the engine (each morning standard routine), and then the fun started: starter kicked in, turned for about half-second and everything went offline. No power, no anything, everything just went dead black. Note, that I drive this car daily and there were no problems literally 8 hours ago which was the last time I started it. And first time until I tried to turn on the engine in the morning everything seemed fine with electronics. Now it's just sitting completely blackout. It just started to turn on and went completely offline, the whole car electrics just gone. Everything seemed to work perfectly fine just a night ago.
Although, for last few weeks it took a bit longer to start in the mornings, but it always started after few seconds of choking and after driving for a while it started perfectly throughout the day. I'm not sure if that can be related as i thought it is just a little bit weak battery, but this is something worse - complete blackout as i tried to start up the car

Your symptoms; the car taking longer to start, and dare I say, the starter turning slower than before and now the complete failure would suggest a problem in the high power starter circuit.
Check that the battery terminals are all clean and secure and also the earth connections from the battery, the engine block and the body/chassis.
If you feel it's necessary you could add a piece of heavy duty cable, say 50 square millimeters between the battery negative terminal and the engine block. It won't cause any adverse effects but will help with the amount of current (amps) which the starter motor draws.

There is a 60 amp fuselink in the engine compartment fuse board which from what I can see feeds a large amount of the electrics including the starter controls circuits.

yes, the starter turns slower but only when cold, when it is warm works perfectly fine. except for that all electronics were running perfectly fine, freshly installed new alternator w/ belts and car had extensive electronics repairs and diagnostics throughout the summer, so my guess is that this is something new, not something that evolved throughout some time. Probably something blown when starter started to turn that switched out the whole electrics of car, but im not mechanic myself so I cant judge properly.
