hi all i would like to get rid of the black plastic cold air intake from my 2001 freelander.
I would love to replace this with some chrome piping and DPH silicone hoses trouble is where do i get the chrome piping from and can you buy it already shaped for my TD4 engine
any help or a starting point would be good, tried searching the forum without any results

adding metal piping will efectively be adding a heat conductor to the air intake ..
.. i.e. heat from the engine bay ..
the idea is to get rid of heat from the in-going air .. hence the intercooler system ..
( colder .. dense .. oxygen rich air .. means more potential power
( introduce heated .. air .. means less potential power

as far as the intake hose is concerned
have a think about why there is a partly flexible connection between the ..
car body .. and the vibrating engine .. .. and not a totaly rigid design ..
and why the same hose assembly is not as flexible as the intercooler hoses ..
( think air pressure .. positive or negative )

in short you'd be better off spending similar money on dph silicone intercooler hoses ..
or quality wind deflectors for the side windows ..

Point taken, think i will stick with the original set up:)
