Looking to buy a code reader setting tool, any views on the Elmscan 5 diagnostic tool, or which reader is the best for under £200

What do you want the code reader to do? just engine codes if so one of the elm327 interfaces on ebay for a fiver will work, if you want it to read srs, abs, transmission codes people on here seem to go for the Hawkeye but it's over £200, the icarsoft i930 as had some good reviews on here, the autel al619 also works well on freelander and can be used on other cars aswell, both these units are around the £100 mark, the autel md802 all system can be had for around 200 pound this does transmission, service light aswell, you could also go for the delphi ds 150e clone for sixty quid.

Depends on year and engine as well - makes a big difference - eg the cheapies will only talk to later Freelanders - not the early ones.

The Delphi clone on EBay for around £60 is good value works on loads of different cars and works well with my Mk1 Freelander (reg January 2001) Talks to the ABS etc .
