Hi all , I have an old 1972 SWB series 2a / 3 Landy , which I love to bits. The problem is while driving it the other week as I doubled the clutch the pedal hit the floor and stayed there :eek: , so I pulled over . I flicked the pedal back up but now the pedal has only a inch of travel max and I am unsure what maybe wrong ... Clutch or Gear box ?
If you look in the engine bay and someone moves the clutch pedal all the linkage moves a little .
I hope someone can help me with an idea or to .

My sons 2a has just had a similair sympton, it was the master cylinder that caused the problem (not the main pressure seal but the return valve on the end of the plunger). Try bleeding the system and if fluid squirts out of the resevoir at all you have the same problem.
 
That's right.

Easy check is to pop underneath and open the bleed nipple while watching the release lever. If fluid skooshes out as the lever flips towards the slave cylinder, you can be SURE that fluid is going down but it can not get back.

There is nothing in the slave cylinder can cause that - go for the master cylinder like the man says.

if the pipe is old replace it as it can break down inside making a sort of non return valve on it i know somebody who had the exact same problem!!

try renewing the pipe this may solve a problem
