I'm about to do a 200tdi engine transplant, and want to change the clutch on the 200tdi before I put it into the vehicle. I was told that if you are leaving on the old clutch plate, then mark it so you put it back the same way you took it off, so the flywheel will still have it's original balance.
But what if I want to put a new plate on as well? How do you rebalance the flywheel? and is it essential? I know I will need a clutch alignment tool to do the job, but is there anything else you think I should know? or any tips, or anything to watch out for? This will be my first attempt at changing a clutch, and want to make sure I get it right, as I really don't want to pull the engine out again once it's installed!
Any advice much appriciated.
