Driving it home, pushed the clutch, started to disengage, then suddenly the peddel went slack and hit the floor. Clutch wont diss engage, all hydraulics working fine. ****ing wonderfull. Does this mean the push rod in the slave has gone through the push plate bit? Ive heard of that befor. Will check it properly in the morning.

And yer, driving it back with no clutch was fun as well.

Yes most likely - if your sure you didn't loose hydraulic fluid, it could also be your clutch cover let go, the torsion spring that sits on the outside edge of the diaphragm can snap.

had exact same thing two weeks ago- clutch hit the floor- it was the clutch arm that had gone- the slave cylinder rod had pushed through the arm- did the job of changing clutch and arm in just over a day on our 300tdi- bit of a pain but straightforward enough really! let me know if you want any tips.

ooh now who's landy is cursed!!!

Yea mine. To be honest i prefered it when it was yours.:p

Pulled the slave off, and the entire clutch hydraulic volume ****ed out of the housing. Reovered the push shaft from UNDER? the plate, does not appear to have gone through. The whole plate assembily seems too far back though, and feels loose. If that failed, it could cause the slave cylinder to push too far and leek right?

What could have failed in the clutch system to have this affect?

Well might aswell prep it to take the gear box off. Gona end up with that whatever the outcome.

Anyone wana lend me a engine crain? :D

Hold up! Might not need it. Theres a plastic bit which i neglected when i put the new slave in. Does it hold the pin in place? If it does, its possible the pin just fell out.

yeah its a little clip which keeps the slave push rod onto the clutch fork. I broke mine in the disco su used a cpl of tiny cable ties to keep it in place which workd

Unfortuantly lever has worn through and eather the engine or gear box has got to come out.

Do you think you could get the crain from work some time?

Yep , that plastic bit might be your problem. It's a bugger to get in when the gearbox is off., let alone on as you have it.

I've got a very crude crane here in Dorking that you're more than welcome to borrow.

EDIT See that you've solved the clip problem - that's a booger. Crane is here now if you want it.

Ive taken the gear box out and the fork is fine. Will investigate it tomorrow, and find out how it goes together, i havent a clue. :D Will re-enforce the fork befor re-fitting.

Heres what i think happened. The slave push rod fell out because it wasnt clipped in, then when i dismanteled it and pulled the fork towards the engine, the pin it levers on fell out. Ive bought all new bits to fix that.

But, the engine side of the clutch disc is soaked in oil, i think its whats caused it to slip in the past. I have no idea where the oils coming from, will pull off the flywheel tomorrow, might even have to take the engine out.

Very much thinking about re-chassing it at this point, soon as half its guts are out already.

The bell housing drain plug was in, ive taken it out. Should this prevent oil contamination?
no, but you'll find out when it's happening.
looks like the crankshaft oil seal has let go - fit a genuine replacement.
