After some advice.

I removed the engine today and it gave me a chance to inspect the clutch. I'm not sure how many miles it has on it, but it doesn't look to be in too bad a shape (see pic below). It isn't quite to the wear indicators yet.

The clutch release bearing, on the other hand, sounds like it is chocked full of dirt. Very gritting sounding and needs replacing.



Since the engine is out anyways, should I go ahead and swap the clutch as well? To be honest, I wasn't having any issues with the clutch other than being a bit noisy but that is likely down to the bearing.

Swap it all while everything is out.

If it was me, for the price of a new clutch I would change it.

Thanks for the advice. It where I was leaning as well, but since the clutch was in decent shape and wasn't giving me any problems I didn't know if it was a waste.

West Slope Rover, I'm headed out your way soon. I move to Northern California this summer. Shipping the Landy ahead of me this May.

I'm going to be in Mountain View working with Lockheed Martin over by Moffett Field.

Hopefully the pay is good. That's not a cheap neighborhood.
I spent a lot of time in Palo Alto in my misspent yoof.

I'm military, so I get to stay in the base housing there. Otherwise, not sure I'd be able to afford anywhere nearby.

I hope you get a chance to get the lay of the land. Northern California is a gem. If you can, check out as much of Oregon as possible.
