I needed a temporary fix for my sagging headlining whilst I search for a replacement ! I bought some no. 8 self tappers, 3/4" long and some of those white plastic washer-come-caps that snap on over the screw heads. I then fitted them into the saggy areas , and although I tried to screw them in , most of the time I pushed them in , and they held securely into whatever the headlining is was glued to originally !I only fitted them today , so will let you know if they hold it up for decent period of time !
 
funny as today i used a pritt stick, it has worked wonders.
splurged the glue about, then run a clean paint brush over the area, and its as new.
see how long it lasts for.
 
well I know spray glue doesnt work as I use half a can on it and it was down again the next morning, stuck to the light fitting well though lol
 
I tried spray glue on my classic and it worked but had to rub away the orange foam stuff first
 
Someone on here suposedly used wallpaper paste. I suippose it would work if the car wasn't too damp.

Hahahahaha, anyone ever heard of a Classic that doesn't have "damp":eek:

BTW, has anyone tried impact adhesive? My headlining is slowly sagging and I have some heavy duty Evostik or something, wondered if I could use that.

I like the small screw/tack idea, that would do for a temp fix.
 
Pull all the saggy material off,then cover up the rest of the interior and with a roller paint it with white undercoat.Couple of coats and it looks really good.

Have heard that one before but never seen the results, not sure I'd be brave enough to try it though.
 
Yes,and the more coats you give it the better it looks.My mate has been doing it for years - I thought everyone knew about it.
 
Could use bathroom paint! haha

My brother uses some tiny magnets to hold up the headlining in his old Ford Pop. The Range Rover roofs weren't Ali were they?

I fort i read that in the book of lies some where too.But it is ally.Me mag mount for me cb tells me so.:doh:
 
I did wonder - never really thought about it when I had mine. Someone had alreayd ripped the lining out. It was a lovely ****-yella colour underneath which I found quite fetching.... :puke:
 
'85 RRC I bought a couple of years ago had the headlining secured with staples! Scruffy (like the RR) but effective, never came down in the 2 years I had the car.
 
I completely removed head lining panel and recovered it with original type material and spray glue. Was great for three months then parts were sagging again. I pulled the dges down in offending areas and sparyed more glue in. Again Ok for so long. I'm using carpet glue so might try a different make next time
