Nah, sh1t happens .. ;)

I consider myself lucky to have survived at all .. and to have such relatively minor injuries is a bonus .. ;)

Summat from 30 years ago, working down t'pit when the roof fell in on me, trapped me for a few hours under some tonnage of stone. Eventually dug out and, what we thought was lucky and pretty minor at the time, was diagnosed with displacing three discs in my neck, trapped nerves etc. Off work for a month in a collar, three months of physio and started back driving Terex dumpers up and down t'pit tip .. ;)

Every couple of years after I'd have minor gripes with trapped nerves, causing pain in my shoulders and neck but sort of lived with it and got physio or massage to work it back into shape and that seemed to work.

Then I started having bad pains a couple of years ago and every so often cricked my neck and I'd be in agony for a couple of months, then late last year I did it again, just rolled over in bed and my neck went, but it didn't mend properly. This year I've had a full Cat scan and other stuff and they've found that I actually broke the little 'wings' off a couple of the vertebrae and also fractured two vertebrae as well. It was the first X-ray or scan I've had on my neck since 1981) The bits that broke have migrated a little and cut my muscles and tendons/ligaments up a bit and also impacted on the central nerve branches. They reckon the imaging techniques of 1981 simply couldn't see the cracks, and since the bits have migrated the actual damage is now pretty obvious!

Had some physio but I really need surgery. Every so often it calms down and I have a few months of 'normality' .... Still waiting for full treatment, they can't decide on a plan of action for the surgery ... so they're waiting to see what the physio does, if anything ... and that's why I'm being a bit circumspect about doing much laning or off-roading for the rest of this year. I mean, no worries getting stuck and needing a tug out, but I don't think anyone wants to cart a fat bastard away in a stretcher .. ;)

You could say me neck causes a few issues now and then .. )

dont sound great realy does it hope you can get sorted soon mate

I can let you know definitely this weekend, hopefully maybe even on Friday. ;)

hope you can make it mate

Yeah, I do too ... Should be an awesome route the 'wrong' way round .. ;)

All depends on me neck ... feels fine to me but they want to check if anything's moved. They (and we) are hoping that the nerve has shrunk back and has room to move properly, if it has no worries .. if it hasn't it's surgery.

Been laying low, doing the physio and the exercises and it all feels good, but the only real way to tell, 'cos it's soft tissue, is a Cat Scan. This'll be my fourth this year!!

could be fun doing it the wrong way around if we did we could do strata as the first lane on the sat interesting me thinks

I know its a bit off topic but has anybody been along the lane from Five Turnings (on the Clun to Knighton road) across Stowhill down to Bucknell
The view from the edge across the valley is stunning!
Turn left down to Vron and lower lye as there is no exit from the bottom of bucknell wood dispite what the maps say.
It might be a bit tame for you laning vetrans but its a laugh in a FREELANDER:eek:
