Basically yes. Please see the attached image found on this forum. Does this method apply to 2004 auto box?
Many thanks in advance.
Thank you ! And should I replace the copper washer? The plug itself is fine to re-use right ?Basically yes.
stage 3 has to be done with the engine running before removing the fill/level plug.

YesWill I need a syringe type tool to fill the oil?
Thanks
Ok I will buy a copper washer.I have reused the washer, but Mr Murphy and his law of sods will say "if you dont have a new 1 (even if you dont use it) it will leak.
Actual plug is fine.
Filling is not easy, many ways to do it.
Pipe and funnel to the engine bay, Garden sprayers (the pump up 1s) is common, or the big syringe thingy.
I would add, Has it been changed or do you know when it was last changed?
If not then its worth just changing the whole lot.

Thats the way I think I will do it. Syringe with a clear plastic tube and fill until a 2mm bead is leaking out the filler hole.I used one of them big syringe type ones, think they hold 500ml or something.
Do you botter with loctite? And torque the torx plug to 30nm?I have reused the washer, but Mr Murphy and his law of sods will say "if you dont have a new 1 (even if you dont use it) it will leak.

no to both.Do you botter with loctite? And torque the torx plug to 30nm?
When I purchased this Disco it was not actually for sale, I approached the guy over the phone and within 30 mins of asking if i can buy it I was there looking at the car. The engine oil runs perfectly clear. He had no time to change the oil.I have reused the washer, but Mr Murphy and his law of sods will say "if you dont have a new 1 (even if you dont use it) it will leak.

Cool ok thanks ! Il do just that.no to both.
I do it by feel, but then I have a calibrated elbow after years of practice (and stripping threads).
Just nip it up.

Yes agreed, but by the time you have faffed about it’s probably there, or close enough to not be a problemI thought the GB needed to be at normal running temperature?
Yep, although I have got fatter and it sin't so easy now!!Thats the way I think I will do it. Syringe with a clear plastic tube and fill until a 2mm bead is leaking out the filler hole.
Im assuming this is done from the underneath and I can access this filler hole with the car on level ground by getting underneath.
Agree with this but I do tend to use a torque wrench if I am at all worried. They can be a sod to undo and as they are a star jobbie it is too easy to strip the hole, making next time you want to do it an absolute sod.no to both.
