Hi All,

Sorry if this has been asked before (and I'm sure it must have been) but I did a quick search and didn't find anything specific....

Is it worth buying a galvanised chassis? I have a Series 2a (1969, 88") in reasonable condition. Obviously the chassis is rusting though. It is probably worth a couple of grand right now but would a galvanised chassis add much value to it? Oh, and is Richards Chassis the cheapest to get one from (£1050)?

Yes. or have a sniff around for one that can be easily repaired. That is getting tougher these days.

Yes, definitely worth the effort if the car is otherwise in good condition.

My 109 is presently riding around on a Series III 109 mil. chassis that I stripped to bare metal and did up with the equivalent of Galvafroid with 3 coats of chassis black over top. Years down the road the thing still looks essentially new - scratches do not spread or bubble and are easily touched up.

If I had it to do to another truck (and my 110 will go this way eventually) it will be a galvi chassis.

Me too. It very disappointing to see a good landy in a yard that just need a new chassis.

given there has just sold on ebay a very clean 109 station wagon, 5 new tyres, recon diesel that sounds petrol quiet, new rad, alternator etc etc for 2.5k that was already sat on a galvanised chassis you may not be adding too much.... but surely cost isn't an issue unless you are doing it with the intention of selling..... fit a galv chassis keep it 10 years and the see what its worth... look at series ones, early fords etc etc... prices rocket
