It's not going to be more. When new out of the factory it was capable of producing 111bhp. I reckon I did a reasonable job of rebuilding it, but it's not going to be as good as new, which is why I said if I was lucky I might be somewhere close to 111bhp. I'm very happy with the way it's settling in though, so whatever it's producing will do me. :)
I've got a very young but old 110. 48 k on it although it's a 97 300tdi. She's definitely more fruity with what I've done so far and once I've done the Intercooler and turbo he'll be ticking along lovely.

Nah you've got it all wrong. Throw the buggers about a bit and they'll be all bruised and twnderised for the slaughterman. Lovely.

I wasn't aiming to slaughter them. Slaughter cattle don't fetch any money. I was aiming to sell them for top dollar for breeding.

And transport stress is a major cause of poor eating quality in beef, as is slaughter stress. We used to shoot em in the yard for our own consumption, they never knew a thing about it.

I quite often remotely lower the trailer gate and do a high speed hand brake turn. Then I don't even have to stop to let them out as the centrifugal force flings them all over the yard. It's saves quite a bit of time.

Try and adjust to civvy street.
Being a stockman is different to being a marine.
A stockman tries to reduce stress on the target species at all times.
A marine tries to increase stress on the target species at all times. Simples! ;):)

I just love eating the blighters. Am I allowed to make a massive pie out of one of your cows Mate?

A friend of mine blew his engine with a K&N filter on a 300 tdi on his way back from a Morocco trip. Apparently the K&N filters are not very efficient at filtering out dust which caused the problem. I am a believer in leaving things standard as much as possible. That's how they were designed and for a purpose. If you want a 4x4 Defender enjoy it for what it is. If you want something faster than get something that has been designed for it.. My 200tdi will go anywhere a V8 will go. I wouldn't want to go fast in my Defender. If I wanted to go quickly I would use the Mercedes, but it doesn't put so much of a smile on my face.

No need to stress em before eating them, it ruins the meat quality.

Got some beef in the freezer at the farm, you are welcome to a few bits if you collect. You can sell me some sheets of ash at the same time.

I will be down week after next for five days.

I forgot about the Ash Mate what size do you need again? If you're driving from Norfolk I'm en route back to the farm just off a38.

Couple of biggish sheets, will measure it tomorrow, It could be in two sections a side, I can cut them straight and butt join when I glue onto the ply.

I am coming from Cambs, but only away for five days, and I have to do a TB test, a tax return, and see a lot of people. And I will be going straight down the A30.
So if you want meat, you will have to collect. The wood I can deal with by courier, and mail you a cheque.
Or, if you want, you could meet me on the A30 on the Friday, and I will hand over the meat.

Not as dodgy as when the BSE ban was on.

When we used to kill a bullock, I used to meet customers at the roadside, and hand over the boxes of British beef on the bone! :D

If yer bringing yer landy, we could have a coffee too.

I've decided to keep it simple and drop a 3.5 rover v8 in, then I'll get it bored if I decide I want more power, truthfully I want the v roar and want it to have decent power driving about, I'm not to fussed about fuel economy as its log converted, this way I get to keep my overdrive and lt77 gearbox and it shouldn't be a hard job for me as I'm buying a galved chassis.

If I had my time again I would have purchased a 200tdi or td5 but didn't have the cash at the time and I'm too attached now.

My thoughts too if I find a decent donor! If properly set up I found the 3.5 & 3.9 RV8 more than adequate for my needs.....obviously not for everyone: "If you go rover v8 you will be disappointed in the power" ......well I wasn't! My 3.5 converted to 3.9 efi gave out about 150bhp (ported heads, Kent cam) and it easily reached a ton and cruised happily at 80. That's good enough for me in a Landy.
The big 'if' is finding a decent 3.5 now; any originals will need likely a rebuild. Ideally I'd like an original factory job rather than a conversion.....looking at silly money nowadays, my last one 10 years ago - factory spec 3.5 - cost me 3K !
Good luck.

Thank you, I've found a reconditioned one out of a stag on eBay, I'm a little skeptical about buying an engine and not seeing it run first however that's a risk I think I'm going to take, by the pictures it looks like a decent engine going to have a friend who's a specialist look at it before I buy, I'll put a link up later when I can access eBay.
