Hi All,

Here is a video where you can hear the noise my new Centrifugal filter makes when engine is switched off.

I have just changed it, the old one never made any noise, this one makes this noise.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers

Doesn't sound like there is much oil in there. You should hear it spin down but it should not have any rattling sounds. Worthy of more inspection!

Spins lovely in the base when the tops cover is not on. To My mind it sounds like it is hitting on the inside of the top cover as it sins, but I cannot see any tell tale signs of impact.

I am going to put the old one back on today and see how that sounds.

I have another filter coming , anyway.

Cheers

All is good,

replaced with the old filter and now it is nice and quiet, you can hear it spinning down.

Obviously NEW filter is not good.

Could be just the bronze bearing taking off the rough edges. I had a genuine landrover one which made a similar noise. Noise went away after a few miles.

Took a few hundred miles for the new replacement which was from the same supplier and was quieter than the one featured in the video above( the noisy one above I removed after running for only a mile or two as the noise was terrible, still got it in the spares box ..LOL ) to get as quiet as the old one. Now it is whisper quiet on the rundown.

Cheers

Update all fixed...bought some longer bolts pulled out filter and placed it back in...and gently tightened them up on both sides...topped up with oil added a Nut to the suspected dodgy side...went for a test drive gave it beans and all is good and no noise :)
