Evening,

Now I should of asked this a while back as it now carries all my tools and alike, and I've had the vehicle for just over 6 weeks,

D1 is a 97 300tdi 5dr

First problem,

The alarm doesn't sound, at all, hazards come on, but no horn, the horn does work, just not when its being broken into it appears,

Second problem,

Only 2 of the 5 doors lock as they should,
Front passenger and rear right passenger,

Drivers door locks, but on pulling handle a few times the door works itself into unlocking its self,

Rear door and rear left doesnt lock at all, rear left doesnt even allow me to lock it manually,

it all appears that the alarm under the bonnet has been taped down, something tells me i shouldnt free it until I know whats wrong,

So, what do you Disco peeps recomend doing about the centeral locking (being a Defender lover this is all a new thing for me) as I feel that should be the first thing to get sorted !

Then probably the alarm sounder

Any help appreciated !

1. the alarm doesn't use the horn but a dedicated battery backed up sounder BBUS, so do u have one on top of the off-side inner wing and if so is it plugged in??.
2. Is there any movement of the door lock actuators in the doors that are not unlocking? if not is there and voltage, the drivers door is the master actuator which sends a voltage to the 4 slaves.
3. Having to pull the door handle while using the key or the door pin rising and then falling back slightly are both signs of a faulty spring in that lock.
4. Do u mean the bonnet open pin switch? "alarm under the bonnet has been taped down" is so all that does is tell the ECU that the bonnet is open, and will sound the alarm if the bonnet is opened while the alarm is set.

Cheers, will have a look in bit,

Should of said the things been wading in the past and under my ownership,

suspecting the door slaves have either rusted or are in dire need of lubrication,

oh and the rear windows dont work, but as i dont have kids that not a problem :D:D:D

I assume the below is meant to be in the above ?

Was full of crud,

Havent touched doors as yet, trying to work out how to get them off (door cards) without damaging them

Yes that's what plugs into the back of the sounder, door cards can be removed carefully with a flat blade or u can invest in the tool to do it.

Door cards will probably have a couple of screws in the bottom and will have screws through the handle and then just un-pop the card bit by bit sharply, or as discool said use a fflat blade or the proper tool. Then, the card unhooks as such from the top, good luck and hope I helped.
