Hi I have an 03 disco td5 and upon checking it has the cdl spigot, a little orquard to get on to at first I have moved the spigot with a spanner and getting up and checking and no lights coming on, located the switch next to it and it has no wiring to it. Found a harness at the other side of the T box with two unused female spade connectors.. but they are too tight to get over it seems and I've found another switch in the TBox towards the rear that also has two male spades coming off??

Now I'm wondering what this is and in the confusion I cant remember wich way the spigot was when it's out of diff lock!!! Please can someone help as if your looking down on the spigot is it in diff lock clock wise or anti clock wise? Thanks

And what is the sensor/switch to the rear that was also unplugged?

Thanks!

The unconnected wired with female spades I have found are black and black with green if this helps

I have linked those two wires and they are my trans temp warning light. I'll connect them to the rear switch as that's what they probably should have been connected to?

Can't find the other wires I'm looking for though but desperately need to find out wich way that spigot should be so I can use the car! Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I have an auto. I worked the wires over and checked them and the temp warning light comes on with diff lock. These wires wernt connected... is there a secondary temp sensor on the gearbox that uses the same light then?

Thanks

I just told you that only NAS modells used to have a transfer box temp sensor, those wires on your's are unused unless you have that sensor which would be odd, check C0686 in the electrical library - connector views

Re whether your difflock is in or out, don't panic just take your time and think about what it does when it's in and what happens when it is out.
It locks the centre diff, so when power is applied through the box, power goes to both axles, and no messin.
So jack it up and put all four corners on axle stands.
and....Actually I can't be assed to type this all up.
Just look here, loads of help available.

Thanks. I know how to check for it with it jacked but half the problem is my Jack's in the back of my van and I diddnt have my van and needed to use the car! I shouldn't have been messing when I was really but that's life!

Luckily using the temp light wires gave me an indication of when it was on and off. I'll be honest I just went into abit of a melt down when I realised I'd messed up with no time to spare. I even had my multi meter in the back I could have just checked continuity!

Thanks for the help though!

Hi, the auto g/box oil temp. sender is located on the oil cooler itself.

See posts #4 and #6, i explained twice what's about with those wires, i cant do it better than that sorry

To clarify. Mine is an 03 TD5 auto and had the transfer box in from standard with the cdl spigot, no leaver and no wires for the cdl light. It does however have the wires for the transferbox oil temp on the other side. I have fabricated a linkage to use the CDL and have attached the unused wiring from the transfer temp to the cdl switch.

I now have cdl and when engaged the gearbox temp light illuminates and goes out when disengaged.

That was clear for me from the beginning, that's why i linked you that post with the diagram in my first reply where it's explained what to do to bring on the CDL light instead of the oil temp warning with the difference that as your's is auto you have to cut the BLG wire which comes now from the CDL switch to C0681/0668 pin 4 and splice into pin 7 BU wire wich goes to the CDL warning
