At least the jets in the webers are easy to get to. Take them out and soak overnight in white spirit or acetone (nail varnish remover).
If it runs with some throttle then chances are the low speed jet is blocked or the idle adjustment is way to low.
Does your carb have an auto choke? If so bin it and convert it to manual as they are always going wrong.

Sounds like idle jet blocked.
If I remember rightly, the idle jet is the 1 nearest the front of the vehcile.
You can unscrew it and useing a pair of tweezers remove it. Clean with carb cleaner.

Hello and welcome

I would check and clean those plugs again as they are probably all sooted up again. Along with what everyone else has said. What colour smoke if any is coming out the back? Just to make sure it isn't burning any oil (blue smoke)

My first 90 was a 2.5 petrol and insurance is good as a classic car for young drivers like us.

had another look at my carb today, i took it apart, and took a side compartment off, it was under spring pressure- there was a brass flat screw head, i guess it is a fifth jet? problem is i cant get it out, maybe its seized up. any advice? is it a jet?

also how should i get all the crap out of the bottom of where the jet is located?

thanks

Doesn't it screw into the body using a small flat screw-driver?

Try a touch of 3 in 1 oil or wd40 - the brass can react with the ally if it has been left. I remember buying some carb cleaner stuff last time I built an LC. It was really good but I can't remember its name - anyone know of such a lubricant?
