hi pepole i could really do with some help my 1998 p38 2.5 diesel suspension is down and cannot get it to raise i have the christmas tree lights on so cannot use rocker switch i have shortend out the relay to get the pump to work and left it running and checked the tank unerneath seems to have alot of air in the tank but will not raise is there some type of activation to raise it or will it self raise when the tank is full i.e valve ect many thanks gaz from telford
 
General advice is to follow Wammers checks in the Technical Section first.

After that you probably need diagnostics which means a PM to Datatek.

How do you know it is full of air? Do you have a guage on it?
 
to be fair i dont know if its full of air when i undo the 24mm bolt from the tank alot of pressure is released how dose the airbags start to inflate isit when the tank gets to a certain pressure then it realeses into the bags
 
If you have the Crimbo Trees on the switch you will diagnostics to find out why it has gone into fault and then rectify, then clear fault codes in ECU...

You have been, have a look in the "Technical Archive", top of this forum's home page. Look at Wammers post on EAS. If you haven't got diagnostics, private conversation with Datatek, envelope symbol top right to purchase the lead and disc to run off your laptop.

Mine was the same, Wammer suggested checking the compressor ( put finger over the outlet pipe ) if you can stop the air coming out then it is not working correctly.
Mine was low pressure so I fitted a fully reconditioned compressor for £95 and it goes up fine now.
 
did a temp fix for now used a compressor to get it of the bump stops holding up fine for now think i might go down the route of putting schrader valves on the end of the 6mm air pipes
 
why spend £ out on a suspension system that might go wrong again there not cheap to replace i think what im doing is the best way each to there own hey

As you posted, it would be a temp fix, if you don't want to listen to good advice then, Hey ho each to their own. :rolleyes:
 
Get your self the diagnostic cable and the easunlock suite software and you can interrogate the suspension ecu and see what it thinks is wrong. Probably a sensor out of range causing a hard fault which is why the lights are all on. There should be between 100 and 150 psi in the tank I can't quite remember what is the target pressure so taking the plug out of the tank without depressurising is really not a good idea as even 100psi is not to be messed with. It is work fixing properly so you can take advantage of the different heights it offers. Access to make it easy to get in and out of and load plus hitch trailers. Standard pretty obvious, motorway height improves directional stability at speed and is automatically selected after a short time sustained above 50mph and also high/wade mode for increased ground clearance when of roading. Although the emergency valves can be helpful it is not a proper fix for what is a very adept system and really not that complicated to fix.
 
Fit cheap easylife springs, sounds like you have had enough of air troubles.
Cheap permanent fix, much better than schrader valve and compressor everytime they go down a bit.
Air is better but springs are the way togo in your case.

I have the valves. You have to pull the delay timer tp stop it changing height. If it does you lose air. Unless you disable the computer you get a constant 35 mph max message. It gets you home. If you saw how much work the computer did as you drove along you'd realise it is much more like stability control in a fast jet. It is constantly tweaking the ride. Valves and a disabled computer safer won't cut it. Better to convert to steel springs.

as the others have said, a quick request to Datatek and you could take charge of the problem and fix it. Easier than a spring conversion.

check the LZIR map. May be a member nearby who has diag and can help.
