Trying to sort out dates is a mare, avoiding as many other events as possible, peak holiday traffic, site availability, the hope of decent weather, wanting to give as much notice as possible balanced against waiting for other events to confirm dates.

It's all what's, ifs and buts and hoping you make the choice that's less wrong than the others.

I really don't like the thought of cancelling, even talking about the possibility is likely to make people hold back and make it more likely imo but it really is getting to crunch time.

last year was the same date and we were very close to selling 50 tickets, many that turned up last year were newbies and they all said what a fantastic w/end they had So what's gone wrong this year ? I don't know the answer, where has everybody gone from last year ? its payday today for most people so come on dig deep and get your tickets, nobody wants to see this cancelled BUT it will happen if tickets are not sold

Quite envious of that, Derbyshire is supposed to be pretty good, and I have never been laneing there.

If it is cancelled, why not try and reschedule for September time? Less competition from other events, a venue might be cheaper. And the roads will be less crowded for the long distance attendees.
Also, campers would not be woken at 4 am by the rising sun beating on their tents.

If it was to move to September, avoid the weekend of 16th and 17th, there is a good show on in Peterborough which a lot of people may attend.

A lot of children will be back at school for the new year by then, that'll prune a few parents out ...

Could be the 7 other LR related events on the same weekend, as I described in post 203.

Combined with the difficulties of travel at that time of year for many, combined with a bit of a late start on serious publicity.

I'll be at that show, on the Glass stand .. ;)

When we looked at dates there was two other event identified ( neither in the locality )...they hadnt even announced the big landy show dates at that point.

We have to fit in with the dates of availability at the campsite too.

If we book too far innadvance we risk doing what has happened which is others announce dates that clash. If we wait too long we risk limited options for availability..it feels like we cant win tbh.

I can safely say that if the event is cancelled this year i probably wont be part of arranging another event. Its a hell of a lot easier, less stressfull, less time consuming and more fun ( for me) to arrange a laning trip somewhere...invite others and set off...im not sure i would be involved in an LZ14.

So despite all the talk of the last few posts about people signing up this hasnt equated into ticket sales....im feeling like its a lost battle...prove me otherwise and get my passion for this event back please

As always a lot of hard work has gone into the weekend by some of our members (not me in this case). It is interesting reading people's opinions on how or why it's not looking good for this year..dates are difficult, location is difficult and avoiding other commitments is worse still.
Whatever happens a desicion has to be made at some point and that was done. You will never please or cater for everyone that's just life but, if the people who said they wanted to come bought tickets we would be a good step nearer to the magic 50.

Those who have been know how good it is, these that haven't need to buy a ticket and find out. We want the weekend to go ahead but simply can't do it without selling tickets.

Fingers crossed we get some ticket sales in the next few days

The deadline for ticket sales is this weekend.
we have sold 23 tickets so far

Well we tried our best, but I cant see this happening this year. As was said if the people that put there names down had bought tickets we would be now planning the lanes and getting everything ready for a great w/end. But unless a miracle happens there will be no lz13

Not given up yet, fingers crossed there will be a late run on the tickets as people remember what a good time was had.
Have you tried PMing the ones who have not bought tickets yet? just in case they are asleep?

Cheers
