Hi guys looking for some input has anyone turned the turbo pressure up on there defender I believe shortening the arm is how to do this however I'm scared to blow it up or something, if it ain't broke don't fix but recently have put on a decat pipe and mid removal and noticed when I went up a hill with a trailer on the back I would always hit it at 40 on previous occasions and it would slow down a tad by the time I got to the top but now she holds herself at 40 with ease since changing the pipes over, could I see more benifits by winding the turbo in a turn?

you will need a gauge
winding up the boost pressure shouldnt be just guess work
ps if you still have the EGR connected up make sure this is working 100% ..a failed of a jammed EGR valves can create issues to boost levels also
when i deleted my EGR i also needed to remove the manifold this was chocked up and the intake ports where 30 % blocked up with baked oil and carbon

Tell it if it doesn't start working properly you'll sell it and buy a Freelander, that should wind it up a bit

Winding the boost up on its own wont make any to very little difference to the power.

What he says ^^^^^^^ air itself wont give you more power - the fuel does that, but for more fuel you need more air. If you tweak the pressure then you will probably want to tweak the fuelling which is a whole subject in itself.

The threaded rod does not increase boost like in the old days, it's more complex than that.
As above, adjusting mine by a couple of turns made no noticeable difference.
I assume you have a Defender TD5 (1999-2006) f you want more performance then you need to get it remapped.

If you have a tdi adjusting the turbo and the fuel input will give more power. And possibly melt things
Td5 need remaps as fuel or air on own doesn't make any diffirence

You might be best off changing to a bigger intercooler rather than putting more stress on the turbo.

I'll post a link to a roaming the out back video for it if you want.
