Hi, I'm on the look out for a p38 and although there is no rush at the moment, wonder if any owners here could give their recommendations as to what to look out for as far a faults and rot are concerned, other than dodgy air bags and tailgate rot

Btw will likely to be a big V8

Thanks

if you want a v8 petrol, make sure the engine does not boil up due to either hgf or the common problem of slipped liners.;)

Hiya hippo. :welcome2:

You're new here so you wouldn't know this but its been gone over so so many times before. Try a search and you'll see. And gemsdad's covered it. Cooked motors.

i have a 2.5 diesel p38,i have owned it 3 weeks, and so far i am replacing the airbags,
i bought a limited thrills one, purely because i won't be in it all the time, but because of where we live i feel the need for a 4x4 and this was cheap, and ticked all the right boxes.
just make sure every thing works, and the clutch is fine and airbags, compressor,if it is air suspension, all the lights go out,no faults flashing ,and you have 2 keys.
have a good look underneath, check for oil leaks on axles both on diffs, and outer seals, all wheel bearings are ok.make sure compressor light does not come on,on a drive, take out a second mortgage just in case lol
