Hi guys
Currently have a 2.4 tdci defender 90 which I love to bits but its slowly becoming impractical for my use now so starting to sway towards a disco 3 tdv6
I currently use my defender for a approx 50mile round trip 90% motorway each day averaging around 30mpg with 265 bf at tires which I think is really good, question is would I get the same out of a disco I heard their thirsty? Ideally I'd need to put ATs on it too how much does that affect mpg on these?
How do they fair reliability wise? My defender hasn't skipped a beat in nearly 3 years.
Are there any common problems I should be looking out for when looking at one to buy?
And lastly anyone know for any nice discos that they'd wanna swap with a mint defender? Haha
Cheers guys!

I was like you got a disco 3 within 6 months went back to a 300tdi, running costs were too high. Did like the comfort however.

Disco 3 steering wheels melt in the sun thats only negative i can think of
Few other things i have picked up that car be stopped pretty easily , spare wheels get nicked, worked on a 59 plate and there was a fair amount of rust on back of chassis, but duno what they used it for

I have a discovery 2 and my wife has a 3 we will be keeping the 2 and selling the 3 when the warranty runs out yes it drives nice and tows well but repairs bills are massive ( when out of warranty )

Strange that I didn't find any price difference between my old disco 2 & my 3. My indie charges the same an hour labour. I found my disco 2 was in there a lot one stage for repairs. So this one can only be the same or better, only time will tell. I can only say that the 2 does not compare to the 3 in any way shape or form. There is a mammoth step between them & I certainly would not get rid of a 3 to keep a 2. On the other hand no two vehicles or people are the same.
