just thinking of buying it for 3k as body is pretty much mint, its the spec i want dhse,112k, looks a good one, then i have 1500 to put all of the above right, then ill have a good rr in the colour spec engine i want? what do you guys think what would cause a radiator to break down the bottom and cause a leak?

what did J say? if he says its worth a shot then maybe, if he said walk away (which i think he did) then walk away there will be others.

there is only really 2 people who can comment on the condition, one is you (who i think is letting heart rule head) and the other J (an unbiased opinion)

There are many on here that really know Rangie's......if J advised me to leave one alone, then that I would!!

Just re read and thought id ask. How bad is your maths?

cant thank j the range enough for coming to look at it for us,so helpful i really never expected to get this sort of help on the first day with the club, been back in contact with seller explaining all the faults and possible fixes so have negiated a 1500 pound off the price or 5500 with faults fixed considering taking as is for a lot cheaper sort it and i know its right, i think

1500 off the asking (5500) is not 3k its 4 which would only leave you £1k max from you current funds to get it up to spec.

the big problem i had with this rangie was, when we looked at it no water in herther tank, the engine had been started and i asked him not to. when we started it and filled the water it ****ed out of the bottom of the rad. he lied about a few things on it first he said it was faultless. its a dse but has spots in the bottom grill and no vents, the spots are the older type not the upgrade ones. oh and its auto, now i could be wrong but i think it should have coded bumpers on it as well as it top of the range. there is a leek from auto box pipe book is on the aircon was on when i started it. just to many things did not add up, i did not drive it nor see it driven it allso had a new cap on hearther the rear bags where buggered, the front had been changed. i have said my peace up to every body else now. oh yes thats where i stoped looking never did look at o rings or low gear box..

:eek::eek: would have thought that was quite enough!

i let my heart rule my head and bought it!!!!well we went back today, took it for a drive as soon as we pulled away airbag and abs light went off, so did little book on air con. by the time we came back,so all the warning lights had gone, we pulled over by this time had done 90mph for a while no water dripping at all???but once its cold it starts dripping round near bottom of radiator have driven 160 miles not a hiccup and water level has stayed the same ,would this indicate the water pump maybe? but when we came back from test drive eas fault came up back bags wouldnt inflate?? so bought for 3k anyway rac pumped it up all round so i could get home drove faultless but a little slow off the mark lol ,just need to sort this leak when cold ??? and the eas fault have driven it for over 2.5 hours round m60,m62,a64 in heavy stop start traffic not a hiccup just arrived back now water level exactly the same as when we set off

Hearts often over-rule heads. That's fine if you have the wallet to back it up! Having seen what J said I'd have walked but I'm not you, we all make our own minds up - I hope the glitches prove "minor" and you enjoy the new toy!!:tea:

me too it had been sat for a long time, maybe thats why lights were on abs,air bag, book on aircon all have gone since been driven and have not come back on ,so need to get rear bags done as cracking round the bottom, and sort this leak when its cold as when its warm and driving it doesnt leak at all its very odd if it wasnt for j i wouldnt of got the 1500 knocked off for the repairs ,maybe it was the big green rangey with the landyzone sticker on the back that did the trick for the price drop and the fact he was under it for an hour, which im so gratefull for

ps im in love with it already lol ,will post a few pics once its sorted ,also never expected the diesels to be that slow off the mark really thought you guys were taking mick once at speed it fine but i now know about the roundabout situatiions ive read before lol

Wish I would have only paid 3k for the shed I got!!!!! Just needs another 3k spending on it.

At least you know of the issues and entered the new world of Range Rover with your eyes wide open.

great sounds like thats what im going to invest in, was in land rover specialist today for a full check, drivers side ball joint (slight play), checked over eas system it has thrown (compressor faulty) it had a new one 3 months ago? slight weap on oil cooler pipe, and its due a service

:pop2: well its going to be fun watching your post count shoot up. unlike your suspension from what i'm reading. :D
