you should have done a LOT or research before you go out and buy one of these.there are a lot of things that can and will go wrong on p38's.there is a chap on this forum who bought a p38 of a dealer,he thought because of that it would be a good one.WRONG,it is the biggest load of crap you could imagine,he is taking the dealer to court over this.BEWARE.

And that pile of crap just happens to be parked on my drive lol.

i just cant beleive how helpfull you guys are on here i never expected someone to come along and help me if i ever can repay the favour i certainly will

as a family car should it be ok then
yep pretty safe, one of the few vehicles that if it can it will limp you home.
i have a 1995 diesel,so far i have changed the aged realated stuff, that is all
it has been reliable, just make sure you keep it regularly maintained,do all you can yourself, and find yourself a good garage that can cover most of this complicated beast, learn to look after it yourself, get to know your vehicle,if you are not familiar with it,learn all you can, download rave, try to keep running costs down, don't expect good mpg, mine returns around 25 mpg,so they are a bit thirsty,i would not be without mine.

my budget is 5k tops, been looking around at td5 discos but have allways wanted a rangey, dont see myself in all the normal estate cars lol

What time did you go = how have you got on
