Hi Everyone.
Looking for some advice.
Been having on off oil burning smell in the car for the last few weeks on my 2010 FL2. Got to the point today where smell wasn't so bad but sort of acrid taste in my gob after driving somewhere an hour away. Windows down etc.
I recently noticed an oil leak (a couple of days ago) in the engine as in the pictures below. There is no oil on the floor, dipstick oil level is where it should be and there is no loss of power. Ironically it is driving really well.
Anyway brought it into a garage today where they have diagnosed a rocker cover gasket leak. They said it is leaking and a bit of a mess under there and oil is getting onto the exhaust (I assume where it leaves the engine bay) and burning. Garage can fit in Friday but will confirm cost tomorrow. They are already indicating that it is a tricky job and they will have to remove lots of things in the way. I assume this is so they can bump the price up.
Just wondered if anyone else had experienced anything similar and what was done to rectify it, and does it even sound right?
I have posted a couple of pics below where you can see oil leak below the air intake.

run your finger under the jubilee clip,if there is oil there it could be in the intake pipe.common problem.
I have it on mine and don't know why.take the pipe off and look inside, just clean it out with a cloth.
also take the metal plate off under engine and you will find oil on the bottom of the gearbox and just clean it off,
somebody on here may have a cure for this.

Think that joint needs to be sealed with RTV or something similar as oil can seep past the joint and drip onto exhaust

I’d try that before rocket cover gasket
