Could be? I've no idea as ive never done a head on a tdi

It did clatter like choof for about 10 seconds before it died. Wont be able to tell until I get home at the weekend and whip all the covers off I guess.

turn engine slowly by hand and see if valves move - or remove cover plate on timing case and see if belt is broken

Just checked.

Valvey no movey.

Fingers crossed the damage isn't too much. I suppose I should really give it a good going over whilst I'm at it.

Oh that was the weird thing the oil light was flickering for a minute just before it went.
