Are they really that bad?? I am thinking they would not make them .someones obviously buying them. I have only fitted 1 bad clutch in my time valeo it turned out to have a warped friction plate. So these britpart ones why are they bad and how do they fail ?

Thanks

If you don't mind taking a chance then go for it, personally I just buy decent parts as I like to do the job once.
Borg & beck in all my landys.

Me too but when I found out Ashcroft's use britpart baulk rings and main shafts and that fella on youtube mike from Britannia restorations uses britpart it makes me wonder who makes the clutch it's not britpart and how do they fail or is it just chinese whispers

Ive heard some things like bearings ect have been well made & lasted also seen someone on here will the centre
out the of clutch, google will probably throw up some failure stories or try the search bar top right.
I have bought some things off ebay ect not knowing they were BP then see the label or blue bag & think ah ffs.
Door handle/locks have failed on me on my defender split doors over the last 2 years total mince bought 3 of them
yes britpart although I had a set of shocks on a disco which were decent, I wouldn't chance a clutch though.

Ok but when you by a recon box from Ashcroft's it britpart baulk rings and mainshaft. That's worse than a clutch. I looking for facts like 3weeks the friction plate lost it linings ect

I think its more of a general rule every land rover owner will have had a bad experience of britpart parts at some time and doing the clutch is quite a big job (expensive if paying someone else) most people will not want to do again so the thought of fitting a britpart clutch will fill most people with dread?

My S2 with tdi had a 2nd hand cover and a new britpart friction plate and thats still good several years later.
The 90 had a new clutch a few years back and thats got a serious judder pulling away and in reverse, it might have been britpart but tbh I cannot remember, but when I get around to doing it again I tell you it wont be britpart full stop!

Edit just checked my receipts and it says 1 clutch and 2 tfer box bearings 85 quid, so must have been britpart! fitted 2013 and 3000 miles ago, low miles as no longer my daily.

To be fair anything britpart with a G at the end of the part number is good stuff and this may be the case with the gearbox parts.

I fitted a britpart clutch in my 200tdi D1 probably 4 years ago (& unknown millage), not had any problems since & the Disco is used for towing & roadcar duties:cool:

suppose the ammount of britpart 'parts' sold there will be problems & failures, law of averages?
although, if you buy to a price:-?

Rich.

I think thats the main issue, people want cheap and the suppliers will supply what the people want.

Thanks guys I just buy a Valeo clutch DA5551G .yous are right it's not worth the risk but then I keep thinking baulk rings. I just go to my local motor factor and buy there oh I dont know now. Indecision worse than a woman

Most people have their own preferred manufacturer of parts from their own experience. For example I use timkin bearings, valeo clutch, Delphi cylinders, Britpart CV joints, britpart head bolts etc etc. My engine and tranny contain many britpart parts from when I did them. People assume they’re **** but often they are fine. I’m sure there are 1000s of Land rovers with britpart clutches fitting by garages the owners are completely unaware of.

Right I know what I going to do. Valeo 130 clutch. DA5551G that's just the standard one. Anyone know 130 clutch part no?

UQB000130G - plate
URB100760G - cover

Both available from paddocks, I fitted one to mine earlier in the years.
