My Vitesse was a '69 Mk2 convertible - 'Damson' red if I remember right. When it failed it MOT it didn't fail on much, but it seamed like a lot of agro at the time, so it just went 'out of sight' into the garage until I eventually sold it for pennies. As I say madness.

My son's been driving for a year now and got himself a Rover 220. It failed its WOF (MOT) on a couple of things (bulbs, bushes) and I could see it going the same way as my car did when I was his age - so I went out of my way to be a pain in the arse with him till he got it sorted. Its all done now and right as rain - I then told him the story about the Vitesse to explain why I'd been so on to him about getting it sorted :) I think he appreciated it after that.

Well now, fancy that. My first car was a vitesse as well. 1966 convertable white with black stripe. It was the 1600 version but still fast and quite economical. The rear suspension (a big leaf spring) turned the wheels in when you went round corners making handling very scary (ditched it once). I sold it and bought a Mk 3 (?) Spitfire which was nowhere near as much fun. I'd buy another vitesse if there were any round me at affordable prices! And if money was not an issue I would really fancy a TR6 ......
