Hi All,

Breaking whats left of my Discovery, My wife managed to roll it into a ditch so most body panels are knackered and the interior is soaked but there may still be some usefull bits...

Currently just trying to get rid of any of the body parts and interior

Both nearside doors look to be ok

most of the (remaining) glass is ok except the front screen.

I think with a good clean all of the harder plastic parts of the interior will be ok, not sure about the leather seats but the rear bench and seats 6 and 7 look ok as they didnt really get wet, the front seats Im not sure about though...

Any electrical parts I can remove and try and test as most will have got wet but I think switches etc will be ok (more than can be said for the stereo etc)

A/C rad fans are ok but the rad is bent and knackered

My current plan is to sell what ever is salvagable from the body then cut the rest of the body up and weigh it in to get me down to a rolling chassis and take it from there, l will be using the engine and box for my 90 and possibly the axles but chances are there will at some stage be a chassis (as tempted as I am to make a 100" Defender hybrid I just cant see I will have the time to do all of the work or the patience to put it through IVA etc) and anti roll bars for sale as well as a rear prop, brake calipers, fuel tank, towbar etc and probably the odd diff and maybe some axles off my 90 if I decide to swap, and the wheels as well (although the ES spec one is spoken for).

For what its worth now the chassis could come with the v5 and MOT etc and the plate which is on regtransfers at a few hundred pounds in case someone wanted to rebody it (chassis itself looks totally sound)

So as you can see not a lot usable body wise, but happy to remove bits from inside and give them a quick clean up...

I'd be mainly interested in swaps for parts that I need for my 90 but any cash towards the 90 will be fine also..

Basically my old ex mod 90 will be converted from its current 200tdi / LT77 (originally 2.5NAD) to the 300tdi and auto from the Disco so basically means I will be needing 300tdi/r380 floor plates / tranny tunnel / seat box / seat box lids / bulkhead diaphragm / rear prop / Defender spec air filter/box and inlet hoses / at some stage a bulkhead (as the current one really needs replacing anyway) / umm and probably loads of other parts that differ between the discovery and a factory spec 300tdi defender?? I will at that stage also then have the Defender spec 200tdi (ie not a disco engine) and lt77 for sale as well as all of the replaced floor panels and props etc so maybe a deal there too on parts as well.

So really its a case of check the pics and let me know what you want and I will get it removed or check it to see if its still any good at least - or even better if local come round and remove the bits you want and leave me with some parts I need for my 90 or donations towards....Ideally I'd like to end up with all the parts I need to convert my 90 as above and the remains of the discovery gone with minimal cash having to be spent (preferably none at all) as I'm pretty much broke until about February now after having to replace the discovery for my wife...

Cheers all

Ben

where abouts are you mate, was your wife okay after that looks like it could have been abit sore..

Hi mate, sorry didnt realise my profile wasnt filled in (just sorted that) Im in Norfolk (Haddiscoe).
Yep shes ok thanks, few bruises etc but managed to get out through the back window that you can see is broken...

Hello mate, do you have the piece of trim down the passanger side of the front screen? Its the bit on the outside and not the interior trim

Hi Jon

Yep it looks like a rubber strip running top to bottom? looks to be in ok condition still.
How does it come off?

Cheers

Hi
Do you think the drivers door rubber moulding is salvagable ?
really need one.
Thanks Steve

Hi Steve

yeah I'd reckon so, will just have to pry the door open carefully...
see if I can get the door open to check it over the weekend and let you know.

Cheers

if it is that bumper/rubbing strip type part then yes I would think it will come up ok, I've just removed the far rear drivers side one which was much more bent (may be able to see in the pics), quick blast with a hot air gun and its basically straight again....

I need the stearing arm and joint that goes from the wheel to the PAS box
How much please?

Hi
I'll have to check but I think that part sheared off in the accident assuming you mean the bars that go from PAS box to roadwheel? ie the parts you can buy sumobars to replace? or do you mean the bits between steering wheel and PAS box - if so which parts just the lower link and uj or the whole lot with the column?
Cheers
Ben

Cool this part then:
Looks fine but will have to check the joints once removed (recent MOT so steering play couldnt have been too bad anyway)
£20 for the parts shown plus post at cost if you're interested.

ps I'll be basing prices around ebay prices if I have to remove things - seemed the most logical starting point at least, but will knock 25% off (plus postage savings) for anyone who wants to come and remove their own parts to save me some time (providing nothing else is damaged by doing so ;) )
easy to remove parts will be a bit cheaper than ebay prices though :)

regards kevin
am in North East Scotland for postage, will pay for that.

Passengers certainly will but I'd prefere to sell the door whole.
Drivers side door is knackered but actually the window track looks straight still but was always rusty - i'll try and get some pics tomorrow.

Cheers
