I've got a set of swb and lwb axles and I'm about to start the rebuild of my swb 2a. So is there a notable difference between the braking capability of the two? As in am I better putting the slightly larger lwb brakes on the swb axles or are they both comparatively crap:D I'm only asking as I'm about to start painting stuff

Cheers Rob

LWB 11" drums should in theory be better than SWB 10" by 10% I would think. Correctly set up and serviced I have never had a problem with SWB brakes. LWB Twin Leading Shoe systems can be a PITA to bleed. I ended up swapping the bleed nipple to the top and I bled them in an instant.

The LWB 11 TLS is a better brake, but it is a lot harder to bleed. You haven't mentioned your brake set up, servo. duel circuit?

Series servo pedal assembly are rare check what pedal box you have.
TLS are good on road but not so good in reverse if your trialling or do a lot of off road.

I'll second that, we wiegh in at 2 1/4 tons due to the camper conversion, TLS on a hill are a challenge.
