Im looking at replacing the brake discs and pads all round but it seems I cant fit vented disxs unless I change the calipers with d110 so now Im wondering if I can fit cross drilled and grooved instead. Personally I have no idea but hopefully someone on here can tell me if its right or not. Thanks

Fitted terrafirma replacement disc, not really sure if it improved the braking, I think next time I change the pads change for a different composition of pad.

Seen some cross drilled and grooved discs and pads on eblag, about £80, thinking of putting them on my 300tdi. Got to make braking a bit better.

The holes on the drilled and cross get full of brake pad dust blocking up the holes I feel defeating the point.

Buy a set of Mintex discs and pads,

Dont even bother with the crap on ebay, some of them seems to be made of compressed grass.

I've Mintex all round on my D2, and had the same on my D1, brilliant stoppers, and give a reading on MOT brake rollers of well over 100 percent against standard

I upgraded to vented discs on mine, but only because I was fitting new calipers, so I decided I may as well go for the vented version.
Marginally better, but no more effective than upgrading the pads to something like EBC Green Stuff, IMHO.

Has anyone on here ever tried those paddocks discs? They're apparently made by a OEM quality UK manufacturer... probably mintex I'd imagine.

Crossed drilled is a waste of time, they are only there to dissipate heat better, it wont make them stop better but they will get filled up with small stones and mud and kill your pads quicker. Decent pads is the best thing you can do for brakes.

don't bother with crossdrilled/grooved or whatever

if your brakes are crap, then make sure the calipers are nice and clean and the pistons are sticking. flush and old brake fluide and check rubbers aren't bulging

then put on a new set of mintex/pagid pads.. unless your discs are old and scored, then buy some new mintex/pagid discs.

i think ebc stuff is pants :)

Yep, waste of cash unless you are going rallying:rolleyes:

Standard discs and pads are more than adequate:)

EBC stuff is good IMO, used their pads on my race car, waste of cash on a Disco though:D
