Recently my drums have been stuck when cold / dragging and heating up after a run. I got new shoes thinking that was the problem.
So today I had time to strip them down and replace the shoes. However when I took the drums off, one of the shoes on each side had a bolt from the back of the hub with a clip holding it to the backing plate, and the other shoe was hanging loose.
Having not tackled brake shoes since the 90's I couldn't remember if this was right. The shoes looked like they had plenty of wear in them, so I bodged together a couple of nuts and bolts to hold the other shoes to the backing plate. Put it all back together, took for a run and all seems fine.
Where do I source new clips etc?
I've attached a photo, the right shoe had a clip holding it and the left doesn't.
Have I fixed it ? Or just done something mental? Hahaha
