so you dont know if calipers had ever been fitted, maybe previous owner was trying to fit vented rather than ran them
it looked like he had done the front end as the front axle and half of chassis was painted, so he must have done something to axle as he had bought discs which were fitted

Her are photos of when I first got it, he had done the whole front half even new springs and shocks. so he has done work on Axle but not sure what,

it wouldnt have had vented originally, and a vented caliper sits nearer the hub
does disc sit central in the caliper

OK Thanks James, so what whats my best / cheapest option? what would you recommend.

Is it not worth trying to dress the end of the bolt and see if that stops it binding? I’m sure it was suggested earlier in the thread, around the posts about the washers.

The bot is ok now that I have put spring washer on, it does not come through on to disc.
Its the hub catching the side of caliper. think I need different discs, solid, or not sure if these are right calipers.
Doing my head in now.

I take it it’s doing it on both sides?

I can’t help other than say discs and calipers might the easiest way.

I can only think as JM said earlier axles only had normal discs that it could entail changing hubs+stub axle (guessing) and as you have got all that sorted would imagine discs and calipers cheaper option.

Not 100% but believe you could split the calipers and take out the spacers, couple of new seals and shorter bolts and they may be ok to run on normal discs. But please understand I am unsure about that and would need confirming by somebody who knows for sure.

Chin up mate:) I know it’s easy for me to say but you have done magic so far, and after all that is a problem with buying somebody’s boxes of bits sorry to say.

Work on something else for a few days and clear your head:)

Yes Both sides the same, cant understand it. Called in to a local place today and he said that as long as discs and callipers are Both vented then it shouldn't matter about changing them from solid. Think James is right about the PO changing them over,So now I'm thinking are these callipers the proper ones for these discs. need to find out before I go and order new ones.
Or have done something wrong when I rebuilt hubs back up.
Gonna have a good look at callipers later to see if there are any numbers on them.

Well This one is a Mystery, We have sat there for a good couple of hours trying to figure out the problem, Ive had them on and off trying to tighten bolts evenly, got the drivers side to turn with about 2 to 3 mil gap, but other side is locking up solid.
By looking at it if the hubs would move outwards a few mil then there would be sufficient gap, which makes me wonder if I have left something out while I was rebuilding, but cant think what.
Anyway not sure weather to order solid discs and calipers just in case its something else.
Will try and call in to some landy places tomorrow if I'm passing to see if anyone knows.
Even the bloody dog is baffled I'm sure she can tell when I'm stressed out, think she was trying to help me. had to pull her chair over for her as she was trying to get on my knee when I was sitting on stool.:)
