I was expecting it to be really slow, but was quick enough that I decided to buy it rather than trek miles to try more or to carry on looking for a V8 on gas.

It is an auto, but it seems to take around 10 seconds to 60, quick to 50 then goes a bit slower.

Only other ones I had driven were D1s, this was my first TD5.

Sounds about right although I have not timed mine (03 TD5 auto) I have always been impressed by its ability to get away from the lights and mine has not been remapped (YET)

Great so after cruise, new front discs, decat, and de EGR a remap will be next.

My Disco 1 based Dakar owning colleague is jealous of my cars acceleration and cornering (ACE), but I keep telling him he just needs a remap (TDI200 auto).

He was a little more jealous when I told him it has no roll bars below 10mph.

Mine is used as a family car but I do want some off road ability, green laning, plus lots of floods.

Any off roading I have done has been with paint damage in mind! My car is pale blue with mica in the paint.

I would suspect it HAS been remapped, 10 secs to 60 in a td5

The book 0-60 is about 15 secs IIRC.

What year is yours? I was thinking of a decat but viewing several comments on LZ forum it seems that anything after 2002 will now fail the MOT if it doesn't have the cat.

2003

And the issue I THINK is DPF not cats

I think I may need to visit a specialist to be sure, but over 60 it does not feel powerful.

Over a stretch of road it is similar performance to a 1500kg car of around 135bhp
