right guys ive just gone to the p38 went to open the bonnet as you do all the time with one of these and only one side of the bonnet releases:doh: is there a way i can open the bonnet without doing any damage etc thanks

Depends if it's the cable broken or if it's frozen. Others have done it from underneath the car, a barsteward of a job I believe.

not sure might be frozen as hasnt gone above -1 today and not used the car today will have to see tomoz if it warms up

Bucket or kettle of hot (not boiling) water might free it if it's just frozen, or better still a hairdryer.

Or just run the engine for a while.

If it's a V8 it should burst into flames and that'll thaw he cable out nicely - oops sorry, wrong thread!

Lot's of not-too-hot water.....hopefully just frozen, best pour it long and slow - give it real chance to melt, if not it's a real bit** to get at cable from below....Good Luck!!

quick update the cable had snapped and found a quick and easy way to do the bonnet and only takes a few mins and dont even need to go underneath the thing.

Well don't keep it a secret, tell all:cool:
if you undo the screws to the bottom of the grill you can pull it out far enough to get your hand in to feel where the cable goes and if you make up a rod with a hook on the end you can slide it straight to the catch one little tug and its open:D
