Bucket or kettle of hot (not boiling) water might free it if it's just frozen, or better still a hairdryer.not sure might be frozen as hasnt gone above -1 today and not used the car today will have to see tomoz if it warms up

Well don't keep it a secret, tell allquick update the cable had snapped and found a quick and easy way to do the bonnet and only takes a few mins and dont even need to go underneath the thing.
if you undo the screws to the bottom of the grill you can pull it out far enough to get your hand in to feel where the cable goes and if you make up a rod with a hook on the end you can slide it straight to the catch one little tug and its openWell don't keep it a secret, tell all
