It looks more rounded than seized so I would think the gripper type sockets would do it.
When I first got my D2 the sump plug was completely round. Local garage got it off using a gripper socket.

Update?

😑πŸ₯΅πŸ˜‘

Still not removed f*#king bolt, whole weekend trying to remove 1 bolt.

So will use weld?

However! Whilst removing the caliper and associated metal works! I now need some more boltsπŸ˜πŸ˜…

I had a similar issue on the brake set on my JCB. Absolutley rock solid, and couldnt remove the bolt, despite welded nuts, heat and candle wax. A welded nut may get the thread to unseize, but as its a bolt, wait till its full cooled down as it will expand in the hole.... With 2 out of the four of mine, I ended up drilling out, and tapping in a new thread.

Will have to wait and see on that oneπŸ₯΄ if it goes that way? Will need a lot of HSS drill bits 😳

Get a really good set of drill bits, and the exact size final bit you need. If you dont, you will regret it, usually half way through. Make sure you use a centre punch, to correctly centre your first drill. You could always try a set of left handed drill bits.

At this point, my confusion is -

How have you managed to own a landrover for long enough to become a "well known member" without owning a welder?
One of the mysteries of lifeπŸ˜‚

I could teach you how to climb?
I could teach you how to kill people (professionally)?
I could teach you Trauma First Aid (see above for details πŸ˜…πŸ˜‚)

But when it comes to 'stitching metal to metal' i shall revert back 50 years πŸ‘Ά.

I do own the kit! Just have not been able to practice with it yet? 😞

Just waiting for call back ref welding?

But drill bits are on the wish list??

I have the other side to do yetπŸ˜‚πŸ˜

Kev
If you drill it, first use a drill bit that is the exact same size as the hole, just drill enough to mark/dimple the bolt so you can then swap to a smaller drill bit and be sure you are bang in the middle.
4mm drill bits are my favourite starting size, small enough to be make easy progress, yet big enough to take some shti!

Tbh I am not sure welding a nut onto the bolt head will help, but always worth a go, be aware heat can make the bolt harder to drill, so I would try the drilling first.

I'm hoping I have drilled enough to break the seal on the inside! πŸ₯΄πŸ™

Not sure on the vehicle but I think it's a nut & bolt job.
The first photo is showing a fairly good condition flange bolt head. The second, which I assume is the other end, looks like it’s got a raised shoulder. Is that just what’s left of the threaded end when drilled out. If so, I would just drill it deeper and leave the shell of the bolt and it’s sure to give up at some point.

I think (again) the top bolt came out OK & replaced with a new one but it's the bottom bolts (both sides) which are the problem which is the same as when I did my FL1 struts. Like you say once you've drilled through the shell will give in.
