Can anyone help -

Having a bit of a nightmare with my bodywork rotting away on the inside of my 110 puma where the metal is exposed. This is my 4th defender and I've never had this problem before. It's happening all over, a white creamy solution, I've been advised it's the Alu getting eaten away. Does anyone know why is this happening and how can I c an stop & treat it?
 
Its a chemical process when the ally touches steel, you should be able to put a membrane or anything between, they should be treated but some better than others. Most just live with it.
 
Cheers mate, it's been doing my head in but that makes sense... We hire out these things and that particular landy it's on has all of it's metal work exposed as it was used as an emergency vehicle in its previous life, I'll get the areas covered with interior carpet but treat it first. I would live with it but she's getting eaten alive!!

Do you know a good way to treat the areas to stop the reaction before covering up?

That does not sound like normal metal to metal corrosion to me, which would turn the ally to a white powder. Has something corrosive been spilled in the car to cause the problem? Is it all over the floors, or elsewhere as well?
 
No, nothing has been spilt as far as I'm aware. I know the white powder your referring to, I've got this in places but nothing to worry about. These patches of white slime have just appeared over the winter when it's been standing, there's been no metal on metal for this to happen and when you wipe this slime away there's holes in the ally. I must have about 30 places anywhere that this is happening in, see photos.

There are 13 types of Aluminum corrosion, not all effect the alloy used for landy's.
Internet is your friend for causes and ways to fend it off.
