Lindas stereo (05 V6) was making some odd noises, so I checked the speakers out. The rear door one is gone, so have ordered a new one from LR at £30 (not bad).

Further check revealed that the sub woofer thing is whats making most of nasty noise, so called LR back. £450

Anyone got any ideas where I can get a 7 inch (ish) sub woofer for less than that? (Preferably about £20!!!)

Is the speaker 7" diameter or the cut out in the panel 7"?

JBL do a 8" Sub GTO804 8" Subwoofer that fits a cut out 7" in diameter! Only £39.99!!!

JBL are owned by Harman International who also happen to own Harman Kardon!!! Can you see where this is going? ;)

The sub is actaully 6.5", but I honestly dont think it matters, as I can still mount it on the underside of the cubby hole lid. I might just need to make some new holes etc.

One problem is that nowhere does it give me the impedance, which is ohm's I think or the wattage of the original sub.

Does it HAVE to be the same, or will anything that fits be OK?

Shouldn't make a big difference if you're fitting a bigger sub as it will only use whatever power is being supplied. Problems would arise if too much power is supplied. Blown subs make funny noises!

OK. Thanks for all the help!

Think I will go for one of those-looks ideal.

It does look as though the connectors are different though. The current one has those flat ones that slide on, but the GT0804 looks like there are round ish...I wish I had paid more attention at school!

There's a guy on here called 'Missing Link'. He really knows his stuff...really helpful. It is important that the impedance is correct, as you will fairly quickly wreck the amp.
It is a real nuisance, as neither of my blown subs have any marking whatsoever.
Do a search for bass subs, and you will see a conversation I had with this guy about this.
Hope this helps, Russ
