I think this must be steering damper-related but welcome any thoughts / advice...

52 plate Disco Td5...

When driving off a bump / kerb it makes a noise EXACTLY like when you twanged a ruler on a desk at school. Is the damper knackered or is it normal?

Was dead funny at first and the kids loved it but unfortunately the novelty is wearing off now

i have the same on my 53 plate...put it down (in hopefullness only) to compressor activating...if you manage to sort problem please post solution

To be more precise than I have been (which won't take much doing) as the trailing (2nd) front wheel drops off the bump / kerb there is a loud "twanging" noise from the front of the vehicle which can be felt through whichever pedal my feet happen to be on at the time. Will post my findings as soon as its fit to go out and get under it.

Its the traction control cutting in,Try dropping down off curb slower and it wont make the noise,They all do this if you accelarate off a drop.the noise is the abs system momentarly braking the spinning wheel.See if the TC light flicks on next time the noise starts.

Mine does exactly this however I do not always get the TC light come on, I think it depends on how quick the TC system is on for a very quick spin and no light but the noise - slighlty longer and the TC light comes on
