I take it you forgot to measure your sills? I have done a couple of sets now and found the gap between inner and outer to vary by upto 10mm, my own were 51mm, Pauls were 60mm and Joe's were 57mm wide, think it's a land rover build tollerance thing ;)

All very familliar for me though, single biggest piece of advice I can give, buy Dinitrol, lots of Dinitrol!!

So good to see another Disco being saved, just seen two 300Tdi D1s parted out engines, boxes and axles to go for Defender spares :( shame that most guys here only see euros and parts to sell to Defender owners when they see a Discovery :(

Not much progress the past few weeks. :(
Been potching around in the garage prepping things ready for later.
Today I stripped one of the side steps.

Rubbers off.....

Cut the rusted square section off the footplate...a bit of cold chisel and 'ammer where I couldn't get angle grinder in.

This is the box section side you can't see ...... Impressed ..not !!!!
Good old Landrover. If you can't see it, it dunt need welding or sealing!!!!!!

got the same with my steps, picked up another pair for a tenner so hopefully can bodge a good set togther :p

Rich.

tidy.

I got my box section for the side steps around the same time as I got the sill box section.
doing both steps will keep me busy for a while !!

........... then perhaps tackle rear bumper........
............then the tow hitch....

.....then after Christmas .......... days get lighter !!!!! and dryer ??

lol

hi mate you are doing a grand job, when i did my sills i did not
put the plastic sill trims back on,because when you drill new
holes for sill trims then put the plastic plugs to hold them in,all
you are doing is creating potential rust in the sills where the plugs
are located, also i dont like side steps too bloody heavy.
keep up the good work, you are getting there, regards stan.

Cheers Stan, though I need to re-fit the side steps for the missus!!! Lol

i understand that chris,my missus was always saying the disco is
too high to climb into,so i bought a gaylander & now that is too small
for her to get in comfortably.:(.we cant win.:D.

Well ...... 12 months later ......

Clamped in the sill to see how things line up.

Will have to wait a few more days....

Hi Phil,

Yes , the tin worm is quite prevalent in Uk.

This is looking pretty good, I bought a disco the other week and am just trying to decide whether it not to rescue it or break it. Either way I need to strip out the entire interior so will decide in a week or so. I'm watching this with great interest.

You started welding this about the time i started mine ,i gave up and the engine is now in my lightweight the gearbox went to leeds and the shells at my mates having anything decent taken off !

Run out of welding wire last week. :(

Got some from local supplier......seems to make a better weld than Clarkes stuff. ..............hahaha, As if I could tell !!! Lol

Anyways, good weather today, finished seam welding , cleaned up a bit and given 1st coat of primer.

Hopefully seal and second primer coat tomorrow..
