right....i have just souced a replacment K series 1.8 engine that i want to rebuild but being new to freelanders and the K series engine i am looking for advise on sourcing the right quality parts

i am going to change the belts, tensioner, water pump, inlet manifold gasket, new oil rail (if not already fitted) clutch, thrust bearing,a new head gasket (should i fit the new MLS?) and new headbolts..........................not sure if i've missed anything? ....should i be fitting / changing anything else?

can someone point me in the right direction ....... thanks :)

Is this a running engine? .............If so, just change the belt, new inlet gasket will need fitted when the manifold goes on anyway

Felixstowe / Suffolk

not far from me then, thetford autoparts has good prices and can get pretty much anything for the k series , they are widely availible anywhere.

i would just put another piston in yours, check the shells while your down there,
kind regards

i have thought about another piston but i have some reservations regarding the height of the damp liners....in my engine the liners are almost flush with the top of the block....is this to low?

is it worth giving it a go? i'm not sure

if other forum members think it will work i'll give it a try :)

personaly i would try, if in dought its not to tricky to change the liners.
i did have a full set of liners and pistons but stupidly left them in my old garage. if i can get hold of them your welcome to them

regards

now thats a very kind offer :D if you can get hold of them then i'll try to change them out.........whats the prefered method of changing the liners?@ do they "tap out" or is there a special technique?

no problem, sometimes the liners just pop out from turning the engine, if they are stuck give them a little tap from under. never really had a problem getting them out.

make sure you getyourself a triple layer gasket with the head saver
