I don't know what caused it to burn out in such a spectacular way, i don't want to fit a fresh unit, only for that one to be cooked to..

That is the problem but someone like Rick will be able to tell you which circuit it is relevant to. You haven't been playing with anything have you. Adding bits for instance.

Nope nothing added nothing taken away..

I Have Martyuk looking at the photo's and he says it must of taken a right shunt to blow that out the board.

Marty will have a look at some old BeCms to see what that track feeds, to hopefully help me find the short ;)

I blame the pot of Vaseline withthe "curly-hair" in it that @Henry_b alleges he just "found" under a seat.
I reckon that really some "plug-in" fun was enjoyed by the owner of the said jar of "starters" before it all went horribly wrong and an overload occurred and our 'enery got a cheap P38 ;)

Rumour is that he's been risking his "jap's-eye" for quite a while on expeditions to "parts-unknown" (oh to be young and carefree again eh?).

Times in the past when I saw any control units burn up was due to someone connecting the battery connections backwards.
