I'm led to believe that I have water ingress in my ecu
On inspection, there is none, which should point at there being a loose wire somewhere
I do get a wet passenger footwell and can't trace the water coming in, I think this was from before the sunroof seals were done.

The car is off road so I have plenty of time and patience to have a look at it myself but I don't no where to look.
The only faults I get are the flashing B next to the tripometer and occasionally a warning tone before start up.
The fog lights don't work but I haven't looked into that yet

Checking the loom would be a start but I'm no good with electrics and wouldn't no what where and how much

that flashing B is bad news... it could get worst and you'll end up near an immobilised car...IMO 95% of cases it's BCU internal fault, 4% IDM fault(interior fusebox), 1% corrosion in plugs ... for the BCU you have to remove the glovebox and there it is on the lateral post, the one with 4 plugs on it's bottom edge and one plug at the side...you better start searching a known good one to have it near by hand, or even replace the existing one.

disconnect the battery before you play there!!!

Sorry mate but you indicate that you've got electrical problems, you ask for help but then say you are no good with electrics - what are you hoping for, an internet magic wand?

Wet foot wells! I suffered with this when I first purchased my '52 plate.

Check the aircon rubber bung outlets which are designed to let condensed water out. Mine were blocked (very typical) and after a a few weeks (with aircon running) both floor compartments got seriously wet - to the point I had to sponge dry the carpets.

The outlets are black rubber tubes emanating from beneath, you WILL need a torch to see them, they are not easy to spot. You can simply remove them and clean or leave them removed (if you're not going off-roading).

Thanks for the help, I spoke to a company that if you send the BCU to they will ever fix or replace. They said, I quote, Your vehicle has a fault somewhere in the wiring that is causing the instrument cluster to show the segment that would usually display the gear position on an automatic. This need to be investigated by a specialist such as ourselves to determine the exact problem.

Thanks Leauk, I did wonder about these then completely forgot.

Thebiglad, I thought a wand was a wand? And yes, I would love one. I'm on here to ask for guidance, is that not what forums are for? Sorry :)

You might also want to unplug and check your xyz switch on the auto box as they can suffer from water damage from the air con drain pipes . Get yourself a tin of electrical contact cleaner , take off battery and just start going over the car unplugging and cleaner the electrical plugs .

Be worth taking out the passenger compartment fusebox and taking it apart. I've done plenty of those where the IDM, (Intelligent driver module) board has gone green shorting out various circuits. The IDM works in parallel with the BCU for many body functions.

Is this around the same area as the BCU?
Thanks

no , the IDM is an integrated circuit, part of the interior fusebox in the compartment under the steering wheel, you can see it's internals in the attachments
