Hi i got home from working away and the wife tells me the battery died about a week ago, i went out to get something from the glove compartment and manualy opened her with the key and locked her back up again with the key, i ordered a new battery and when it arrived i went out to fit it, i tryed the door to pop the bonnet and nothing, it would not open with fob or key,i managed to get underneith and pop the bonnet, i then put on the new battery i could here the ecas making a few noises and some electrics activate i thought great, then i went to open the door and nothing, with key or fob, i noticed there was a "key code lockout" message on the dash which i read means several wrong attempts with the EKA code so i waited 30 to 40 mins and it dissappeared, i then proceeded to try the EKA procedure and nothing at all happened even after several attempts, i tryed again this morning and still nothing not even the "key lock out" message came back on the dash, i"m at a loss as what to do next any help would be much appreciated. Its a 2001 p38 4.6 Vogue model.

It was rather silly to relock it in the first place.
Are you sure the replacement battery has any volts in it? Whatever drained the first battery may have drained the replacement.

Strange that your key no longer works on either door.
Seems somewhat suspect if I'm honest.

have you tried jump leads to battery
failing that look at LZIR map and politely ask

i will give that a try in the morning, does it not make a difference if the bonnet is open, as there is a switch on there to tell you if its open or closed.

If battery is dead, hold down bonnet switch and then put on jump leads, you do not want BCEM in alarmed state or superlocked nightmares.

later p38 putting key in ignition and when disabled message appears press fob buttons to sync
