Suffolk 4x4 Club holding a public driving day at Badwell Ash in Norfolk (O.S. map 155, grid ref 997694). Its on Sunday 25th and costs £15 per vehicle, £5 per extra driver.
I`m not a member but will pop along for the experience as haven`t been off road yet.
Any others from this general area interested?

Very tempting indeed. Don't know if our offroading Disco is up to it at the moment though - let alone trailering it there :(

Tex.....you lightweight. Get your priorities sorted ;).

pinkspyder....No worries, I`ll report back on here for future reference.
I doubt I`ll be pushing it as I`m a beginner and have a lot to learn to get it right. I`m also unsure right now just how capable or well equipped my 90 is for easy, intermediate or tough conditions. Sunday will give me an idea and hopefully give me the chance to pick the brains of experienced
offroaders :)

Well I went!
The officials Neil, Max and Martin, who run the event were fantastic. Friendly and eager to give help and tips, with both vehicle and driving.
The event is held in a quarry with the usual easy, medium and radical parts including lots of water/mud.
I was tentative at first, the angles when your sat in the car are worrying, but watching others, made you realise you`re not as tipped over as you think .
After a couple of runs with Max guiding me, I was off on my own and soon trying new routes and challenges. The only no no`s for me were the very steep uphills `cos I haven`t got the best tyres for that although I was told my 90 could go anywhere in the quarry! But not in my hands just yet, obviously.
Balancing the slow 2nd gear grunt with diff lock, up inclines and then whacking in the power to get you over a crest was fun, and exhilirating too :D. Similarly, 2nd gear downhill engine breaking is awesome. Not quite making it up a hill and having to brake, go into reverse and drive backwards (using the engine braking) was unnatural but, it works.
Thoroughly recommended day out. Play days only every 2 months tho` :(
Oh, and plenty of good cond Disco`s, Fronteras etc. No rocks, trees to hurt your pride and joy.

No pics unfortunately :( . I had to go alone this time, one mate busy, the other unsure of his engines fitness for the task!
There would have been some awesome pictures too . Oh well, next time maybe.
