Well I went!
The officials Neil, Max and Martin, who run the event were fantastic. Friendly and eager to give help and tips, with both vehicle and driving.
The event is held in a quarry with the usual easy, medium and radical parts including lots of water/mud.
I was tentative at first, the angles when your sat in the car are worrying, but watching others, made you realise you`re not as tipped over as you think
.
After a couple of runs with Max guiding me, I was off on my own and soon trying new routes and challenges. The only no no`s for me were the very steep uphills `cos I haven`t got the best tyres for that although I was told my 90 could go anywhere in the quarry! But not in my hands just yet, obviously.
Balancing the slow 2nd gear grunt with diff lock, up inclines and then whacking in the power to get you over a crest was fun, and exhilirating too
. Similarly, 2nd gear downhill engine breaking is awesome. Not quite making it up a hill and having to brake, go into reverse and drive backwards (using the engine braking) was unnatural but, it works.
Thoroughly recommended day out. Play days only every 2 months tho`
Oh, and plenty of good cond Disco`s, Fronteras etc. No rocks, trees to hurt your pride and joy.
