Bloo disco 2

Morning all,

I'm not sure if I've made a mistake but I've gone and bought another discovery 2 TD5 after going from driving a Discover 2 with a rotten rear chassis and having to scrap it to driving a Ford Fusion (granny car) for a year.
This one is a Landmark edition and am so pleased as it's chassis is completely rot free and undersealed.
It's got a full years MOT with no advisory's at all!

Only issues are its been de catted, remapped stage 1 and the air suspension has been removed and replaced with springs.

Starts easily and to be honest goes like stink if you put your foot down.

What are your thoughts about putting it back to standard ie, re fitting the cat exhaust and putting the ECU back to standard?

Many thanks and hello again

Andy

Welcome back from the cold 🥶

Std map, no leave it remapped
Springs, check what is left such as ECU and pipework, also pump
Cat £££££££££££££££££££££ (hundreds) for a new one and old ones fail internally.

The compressor is still there and the level sensors too but not sure what else.
So would you leave it de catted then?
It sits nice and level on the springs but i liked the ability to lift it when going across fields when fishing.

Depends why it was removed if bags easy to restore.

Cat, wait for mot and see if they comment.

Worst case a new one.

Just looked on line and a new cat is about £100 and a second hand/used £70 so not too worried about that.
Got a friend who gets MOT's done with realistic expectations for a vehicle this age and type as he MOT's farmers vehicles.
He adds plenty of advisory's but won't let anything unsafe go through.
Just a genuine honest MOT.

I have just been and had a look and for some reason the air suspension button makes the ABS light come on?

Not a bad price.

Needs code reader, but suggest SVS mod will be needed

Where did you see new Td5 catalyst with 100 quid? it's sold as whole downpipe assy as spare and not so cheap... let it as it is without cat and remapped

as about the ABS light, do you see all the ABS related warnings(ABS, TC, HDC) on ignition self test? they come on and go out as they should then if you push the off road mode suspension switch the ABS light just comes on alone or how? describe exactly what happens cos if it's so the PO botched up something on that system
"shuttle valve switch" but neglect that cos it has nothing to do with what you described, you'd get the "3 amigos" for that

Leave it alone and enjoy it!
Without knowing what year it is it may well not need a cat. Mine is 2000 and has no cat, never did.
When it became compliant with EU3 it then did have one, this may coincide with facelift but I don't know. The internet or peeps on here will tell you, but if it passed emissions at the MOT, it doesn't need one.

Is it an automatic? If so, I’d leave the remap. An auto Td5 isn’t the quickest off the mark…

Sorry not been on for a while so have generally forgot to give all the info required.
It's a 2004 discovery Landmark Td5 Manual.
253,000 miles and has service history up tp 2018.
Has a stage 1 remap and has been de-catted.
It has a checker plate bonnet cover which i am removing and getting rid of as i'm looking to take it back to stock as much as possible, no lift kit but has had the air suspension removed and springs fitted on the rear which i will be leaving.

Thanks

Andy
