I've been searching the forum for info on this and despite a number of hits, there's been nothing showing exactly how this is done.

I came across this over on the other site:

Aux input done on alpine radio hu

As you can see the unit itself has an aux in (obviously location doesn't really matter) and that's essentially what I'd like to do as it looks a lot more OEM than cassette adapters or FM transmitters.

All I really want is the Aux in so I can plug in an MP3 player or other source as and when.

Does anyone have information on what exactly is done to make this happen without losing steering controls, CD Changer and cassette capabilities?

Roverville used to do conversions for Alpine stereos, not sure if they are still going - google might throw up some answers to this.
I just use a cassette adaptor for the ipod. Just tucked the wires around the fascia & you cant really tell.

Yeah I'd come across them but I was hoping to find someone with schematics or similar that shows how it's done.. so I can do it myself :)

I use a high power stereo FM transmitter, no wires, chuck the MP3 player & transmitter in the centre cubby and it works fine. Quite funny to see peoples faces at the traffic lights if their radio is tuned to a near frequency as they suddenly get my music.

Especially if you are into the likes of Napalm Death or Cannibal Corpse.... :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Hmm, that would probably accentuate the 'new' whine I have too. After doing the o rings and removing the stereo, every since putting it back I get a whine when playing CDs and tapes.
